Australia’s best-selling travel magazine, Australian Traveller, reveals Australia’s100 amazing places you haven’t been to (yet), in a special collector’s edition of the title, on sale 2 April.


The list was compiled by the Australian Traveller team after interviewing hundreds of well-know and well-travelled Australians. It reveals their favourite secrets, with many surprises… Former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett nominates the entire state of Tasmania as an amazing place underappreciated by Australians. Kennett gives particular praise to the ‘antique trail’ that runs through the centre of the ‘Apple Isle’ from Devonport to Hobart via Richmond. Australian fashion icon (adopted from NZ) Collette Dinnigan nominates Milton on the south coast of NSW as her secretamazing place for its rustic, simple beauty. Dinnigan also reveals she has recently renovated a house in her style and that it is now available for holiday rental. NSW and Wallaby buffoon turned journalist and author Peter FitzSimons nominates Victoria’s Beechworth as his secret, declaring it: “The most beautiful place in Australia”.


NSW is our most populous state and yet it also holds the greatest number of secrets, with 28 of the 100 coming from the east coast state (31 if you include the ACT).

The largest state, WA has the second greatest number of secrets, with 15 amazing unknown places, followed by Victoria with 14.
