The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is filling Canberra’s skies with a stunning array of giant hot air balloons, kicking off a sensational season of events in the capital. From 6am each morning until 15 March pilots begin inflating balloons on the lawns of Old Parliament House against the distinctive backdrop of Canberra’s landmark buildings and attractions.

Canberra’s sky will come alive with colour and light on 14 March, with Skyfire 27set to deliver another magnificent display of fireworks on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin’s central basin. See great free live entertainment at Regatta Point before the fireworks explode.

In 2015 the Comedy Festival will be back from 17-21 March with a line-up of the world’s best comedians including Jason Byrne, John Safran, Peter Helliar and Cal Wilson.

With more than 200 acts representing diverse styles such as acoustic, blues, roots, bluegrass, world, Celtic, traditional, gypsy and country in a program including music, dance, spoken word, film, circus and traditional crafts, there is something for everyone. Shop up a storm at Canberra’s popular markets, including the award-winningHandmade Market which will be held for the first time at Exhibition Park on 14 and 15 March. Handmade Market brings together talented artists, designers, stylists, craftspeople and gourmets and will showcase more than 180 Australian designers and makers in its new home.

Hustle and Scout: Twilight Fashion Market will return alongside The Forage street food market on 11 April at Hangar #47 in Fairbairn showcasing innovative and sustainable Australian fashion labels, combined with the finest regional food and drink. This autumn the markets will feature 60 independent fashion designers and collectors, three live music acts, a live music lounge, 30 food and drink stalls, workshops by The Marker’s Collective, roaming models, a pop-up choir and a pop-up roving dance performance.
