“Cheap things in London” must be one of the most Googled phrases ever and Twitter and Facebook are a-wash with hundreds of suggestions on how to make your penny go that little bit further.

The answers are usually cover day activities such as free museums and galleries, blah blah etc etc, but what happened to ideas on going out the cheap. London has one have the most diverse and kick-ass nightlife scenes in Europe, and there are certainly lots of ways to get your thrills but keep your wallet happy. So, without further a-do here are a few ideas on how to live it large for less.

Don’t snub chain bars

One mustn’t sneer at the humble Wetherspoons, Yates, Slug and Lettuce, All Bar One or Nicholson Pubs. You will find these pubs ALL over London. The good thing is, each chain will have fixed prices, which is always good for those watching the pennies. It means you can get a pint, a cocktail or a shot for a reasonable price. You’ll find the best of the chains in Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus and a visit here on a Friday or Saturday will give you a great night without pushing the boat out.

Pub Crawls
The good ole’ pub-crawl is a favorite for those wanting quality and value for money. The majority of pub-crawls will offer discount drink prices; free entry into clubs and your guide will be able to suggest places to top off your night. Celebrity Spots for less

Spot your favorite musician at The Hawley Arms in Camden made famous by the late Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty, Peaches Geldof and Nicole Richie. Chances are you’ll find someone singing away, guitar in hand spilling beer in a corner.

Look out for the Made in Chelsea Crew in Chelsea’s The Hollywood Arms, BBC faces in The Heights Bar in The Langham Hotel or head over to Battersea’s Bunga Bunga restaurant which has seen the likes of Prince Harry falling out of it’s door.
